This fun newsroom project is a great way to have students report on current events! đ°đ„
This engaging project encourages students to review and summarize current events using the site https://www.dogonews.com/ . Included in the template is a DOGOnews newsroom, Show Your Work slide for students to add screenshots of the articles they report on, and a newspaper article Reporting page with detailed guidelines for writing their own summary. If you want to change the instructions, move the transparent rectangle covering the words, edit, then move it back over to keep students from changing it. I have also included a blank newsroom in case you would like to use a different (or more than one) online news source - just add your own links. The Bitmoji can be switched out for your own and the instructions on the teleprompter can be customized. Have fun encouraging your young writers!
I intend to have this as an ongoing project for students to add to throughout the year, so I have made multiple copies of the Show Your Work and Reporting pages before assigning through Google Classroom. *NOTE: If the link says you need to request access, it is your school network blocking the share. All items are set correctly to force a copy when clicked on. Many districts block things (including file shares) that are coming from outside of their domain. Please try making the copy from a personal email or Gmail account. Then, you can share the file with your school account. If you request access, I won't be able to grant it or respond to your email request, since the issue is blocked on your end.
