It is essential to wear special eclipse glasses or use other safe viewing techniques to protect your eyes when observing a solar eclipse directly, as looking at the Sun without proper eye protection can be harmful. Solar eclipses have fascinated people for centuries and have inspired myths, legends, and scientific discoveries. The next total solar eclipse after the one on April 8, 2024, visible in North America will occur on August 23, 2044.
